Founded as a Viking settlement, the city has been Ireland's primary city for most of the island's history since medieval times. Today, it is an economic, administrative and cultural centre and has one of the fastest growing populations of any European capital city.

About Dublin

Dublin covers an area of 44 sq. miles (114.99 square Km) and is estimated to have a population of 1.5 million people being the capital and the largest city of Ireland. It is noteworthy in terms of its vibrancy, its nightlife and its tourist attractions.

Museums

m2.jpgHoused in the old building for the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham, west of Dublin’s city centre, the Irish Museum of Modern Art was opened in 1991. It is Irelands leading institution for the collection and presentation of modern and contemporary art.

It presents a wide variety of art and artists a fantastic range of exhibitions and guided tours. It has excellent facilities including a bookshop, coffee shop, it also caters for conference and banqueting facilities and is open Tuesday – Sunday, all year (except the Christmas period).
